How to Create a Managed Configuration in CapaOne for Android

Step-by-step guide to creating and applying Managed Configurations in CapaOne Mobile Manager for Android apps that support the feature.

A Managed Configuration allows IT administrators to remotely configure supported Android apps through CapaOne Mobile Manager — without user interaction. This guide walks through the steps to set one up.

Prerequisites

Before creating a Managed Configuration, ensure you have:

  • Access to CapaOne Mobile Manager
  • A Google Play app that supports Managed Configuration (not all apps do)

Step 1: Open the Android Applications Section

  1. Go to capaone.com
  2. Navigate to Android → Application

Step 2: Select the App You Want to Configure

  1. Find the Google Play app that requires a Managed Configuration
  2. Click the three-dot menu next to the app
  3. Select Edit Managed Configuration

Note: Managed Configuration is only available for apps where the developer supports it. If the option is unavailable, the application lacks Managed Configuration support.

Step 3: Create or Edit the Managed Configuration

  1. Modify the available configuration fields according to your requirements
  2. Click Save to apply the Managed Configuration

The configuration can be linked to individual endpoints or groups.

Enrollment

No enrollment-specific steps are required. The configuration automatically applies once the associated app is installed and linked to the device or group.

Maintenance and Best Practices

  • Verify app Managed Configuration support before planning policies
  • Review developer documentation for complex configuration schemas
  • Test configurations on a single Android device before widespread deployment
  • Revisit configurations following app updates for newly available options
